Well we are unhappily still waiting for the birth certificate. We aren't really sure what is taking so long, but we are hoping it will be resolved by Friday or Monday. This isn't a good way to start out, but hopefully everything will go smoothly.
Rumors.....
There are rumors that the first lady of Guatemala, who is against adoption, is proposing a bill to their congress to halt adoptions October 1, 2006. This is only a rumor but we do know that anything is possible. Also UNICEF is offering the government 28 million dollars, yes 28 million, to stop adoptions at once. Again this is only a rumor so we are trying not to get too upset.
More Middle Name Baby Mamma Drama....
We are thinking quite possibly Cruz as her middle name.
Her name would be Addisyn Cruz Kinser Wagner.
We haven't made a decision yet so it's not set in stone.

Progress....
Well we are still waiting on Delmi's birth certificate to get to the agency. They say any day now and then we are on our way!!! We got some papers about Delmi's birth mother and her. She got a 8.9 on her Apgar score, which is really good.
We are also thinking about starting our plans for a visit trip. We know that we are going to go during Christmas to spend her first Christmas with her, but I don't know if we can't wait that long. So we were thinking about going over Thanksgiving too! That is a lot of flying, which I hate.
This weekend...
Dad and Gloria came over to see our house and we went out to lunch. It was a good afternoon and it was good to see them. They have been very supportive about the adoption and for that we are grateful. They bought Addisyn a beautiful Amish handmade quilt. I took some pictures of it and we will post them.
Middlename Baby Mamma Drama...
Well, we can't decide we thought we would be ok not to use either of her birth names, but when we got her pictures it changed. I don't know why our minds changed, but they did. So I guess we have to decide between Delmi and Yadira. We can't decide and I don't think we will be able to decide any time soon. We were also thinking about using her birthmother's name when we receive that information.

Here she is!

Introducing Miss Delmi Yadira Cruiz Gonzales!!!! She is absolutley gorgeous and perfect. She was born on September 19, 2006 she was 6 lb 8 oz and 18 inches long. Her birthmother received prenatal care and her delivery was considered normal. That is all the information we have for now.
We are going to call the agency and tell them yes, and we are so excited.
Everyone seems curious about the process so I am going to lay it all out!!
1. Get the Power of Attorney sent to Guatmela (for the lawyer to represent us)
2. Receive approval for DNA test (they do this to be sure that the birth mother that placed the baby is the baby's mother)
3. DNA test scheduled with Birth Mother and sample sent to US
4. Results Reveived for the US (confiming that the birthmother is indeed the woman that gave birth to Delmi)
5. Pre-Approval Issued
6. Case submitted to Family Court and Social Worker assigned
7. Meeting scheduled with Social Worker and birth mother (to be sure that she placed Delmi for adoption and it was her
decision and not anyone else's)
8. Social Worker submits report to Family Court and case approved
9. Case submitte to PGN (this is the last time that the birth mother can change her mind)
10. Released from PGN (this can take months)
11. Adption Registered and new Birth certificat issued
12. Submitted to US Embassy for final paperwork
13. Issued "pink" slip with Embassy appointment
14. BRING BABY HOME!!!!
It will be about 6-8 months for all this to happen, and there are cases that are much faster and much slower. We are hoping to travel at Christmas time, but I don't know if we can wait that long. We should also be getting updates once a month or so, and of course we will be posting those.

New Photos
Jenny posted some photos. The first is out of a Guatemalan book and we just love the picture. The second will be Addisyn's room, and yes it is ready. It has been ready for months. We still haven't decided on a middle name for her, and Addisyn is sort of a version of Gwen's great grandmother's name Addie. So for her middle name we were thinking Jo, which would be for Jenny's Dad and Mom.
I don't know we will just have to wait and see. Hope to be posting news that we have received a refferal.

WE ARE #1 on the list for girl!!!

Ok first off this is my first post and I can't figure anything out, and I think I will need some help from Jenny. This blog is to first occupy my time and I guess to keep others updated on our process. Most of this technical stuff sounds like jibberish but here it goes here is a timeline of our adoption so far:
6-27-06 we picked up our homestudy
6-28-06 sent all info to INS (Homeland Secuirty)
7-1-06 got our passports
7-19-06 Dossier done
7-19-06 Fingerprints Done
8-2-06 We are #4 on the list for a girl
8-17-06 We are #3 on the list for a girl
8-18-06 Last Piece of paper needed
9-11-06 We are#1 on the list for a girl
All of this seems like nothing, but it is a lot of sweat and tears. This paper work is horrible. I know it will all be worth it in the end but they want you to have a HIV test, TB test, drug test for every known drug. Then a medical review, two sets of fingerprints, every form filled out to the exact specifications. Then you must drive every piece of paper to Lansing to "The Great Seal" then send it to Chicago for the last step. I am so glad that we have all this done. This is where the wait begins. I know I am hardly going to stand it.
This is where I will end and I won't post again until we have our referral or I can't stand it anymore.
